Spring Skincare Series - Glossier
It's time to wrap up the February skincare series, but not before I share one last gem with you all.
Glossier was a company I noticed right out of the gate. They offer killer beauty products that put an emphasis on skincare and their pale pink semi-tomboy aesthetic was enough for me to give them a follow on instagram. After a few months of following, their excellently branded content lured me in and I knew I was going to make a purchase from them one way or another. They give the option of purchasing their makeup in a set, which can be delivered just once or set to a monthly purchasing plan. Single purchases are also an option if you're like me and just want to test out a product or two. What really caught my eye was their Boy Brow grooming pomade, I'm always looking for the best brow tools and although I have yet to try it (and I probably never will, it's been out of stock everywhere) it appears to be the latest "must-have" product in brows.
The product I did manage to get my hands on was their Milky Jelly Cleanser. I spotted this product on the website and, I'll be honest, it looked a little weird. I'm a big texture person and I wasn't so sure if putting a jelly cleanser on my face sounded like the most pleasant way to keep the dirt and oil away. Consistency issues aside I decided the possible texture challenge was worth it and purchased the cleanser. My package came relatively quickly seeing as they're based in NYC, and when I opened the box up, wow! Pretty pink packaging, cool quotes, and a sticker set? 10/10.
After playing around with the packaging I decided to test out the cleanser. Overall it was pretty pleasant and mild. The cleanser wasn't quite the consistency I had expected, in fact it felt just a little bit thicker than applying normal cleanser to your face. It contains hints of rose water and hydrating elements that relive the skin from stress and help to keep it nourished and purified. After the first wash I could tell my skin felt thoroughly cleaned, but I've only had the product for about a week so there are no major details to report yet other than it did not make me break out after switching from my old cleanser (bonus points!)
If you'd like to see a tutorial of how the cleanser is typically used, Glossier's got you covered. Check out this video they published as a How to for the Milky Jelly Cleanser:
If you take nothing else away from watching this video or just don't feel like watching it, note the following:
- The Cleanser DISSOLVES MAKEUP
- Milky Jelly Cleanser contains Poloxamer, which is the same ingredient used in contact solution, this means NO STINGING if it gets into your eyes. (triple bonus points)
I'm excited to get some more use out of this product! Have you tried it? If so let me know what your impression was in the comments below.
